Real Housewives Series is a Real Dumpster Fire

Let's not kid ourselves, the majority of cable and network television is a wasteland. At the top of the trash pile, or possibly the bottom, is the reality series Real Housewives of (insert some random metropolitan city here).

Even though I've never seen a single vapid episode of Real Housewives of New York City, Atlanta, New Jersey, Orange County or Opossum Trot, Arkansas - the :60 promos that litter the televised-reality highway are enough to nauseate any thinking American.

Other than being petty, shallow, insulated caricatures of the worst that the American Dream (or nightmare) has to offer - who are these people and why should we care???

I used to think that the premises of Big Brother and Flavor of Love were the worst that reality TV had to offer, but the Real Housewives’ franchise proves that we have not yet plumbed the depths of that insipid cesspool.
