Facebook is Most Innovative Company - Tops My Informal Survey as Well

The March 2010 Fast Company cover story featured a ranking of the World's 50 Most Innovative Companies. Here's the link to the story.

It may surprise some of you that Facebook tops the list; however, its 350 million users globally would probably disagree. Regardless, that growth is amazing when you consider that the company is barely six years old and began in a college dorm room.

Facebook's dominance of the social media landscape was bourne out in an informal survey I conducted last week for readers of this blog. Despite the small sample size (<35=N), Facebook was the preferred method of online interaction by 79 percent of respondents; Twitter (which was ranked 50th on the Fast Company list) was a distant second with 14 percent of the survey tally while the category of "Other" accounted for the final 7 percent of those surveyed.

Interestingly, neither MySpace nor LinkedIn received a single vote as the preferred online venue of choice.  Maybe those two laggards should set up Facebook Fan pages or links to Mafia Wars?  It couldn't hurt.

  1. I saw your post for the survey on FB. Was hoping to chime in and also ask for the results. May help me at work. But of course I was too late in responding. I hope to catch up on some of your blogging, looks like great topics.
