A Great Holiday, Family Tradition!

Every Christmas since our daughters could stand up on their own, my wife would engage the herculean task of making holiday cut-out cookies. Thank God I married a gal with the patience of Job for such an arduous job.

I couldn’t do it, but I’m delighted to write about it and provide a few select photos of the festive frivolity that took place in our kitchen this week.

Here is our youngest, rolling an overabundance of flour through a film of cookie dough.

Once the cut-outs were in the oven, the girls were as excited to watch them bake as if they were watching a Hannah Montana re-run!

How cute is this picture below???  Now the real “fun” begins as the girls anticipate decorating the cookies (as well as falling into a hyperglycemic stupor) from the candy and frosting they plan to “sample.” Anyone who’s made Christmas cookies know this is where the real work begins, since the kids lose interest after about 10-15 shapes.

Here’s our oldest daughter’s confectionary masterpiece….

…and Sydney’s Gingerbread “Girl” – note the colorful makeshift toenail polish so that everyone knows this is a girl cookie.  Ah yes, our daughter would make any suffragist proud although I suspect that Lucretia Mott and Susan B. Anthony had other priorities in mind.

Needless to say fun was had by all, especially me since my wife handled everything - but don't worry, she'll make sure that I make up for it when it comes to wrapping the gifts!  So with all of these cookies around the house there's only one thing left for me to do - renew my WeightWatchers enrollment…AFTER the first of the year.

  2. @GBR, holy cow - 8-dozen???? You're broaching Keebler elf production levels with that number. Jamie may try to unionize......
